The Flavia Fusion is the original Flavia model and still one of the best entry versions for the pod-machine novice. Pod coffee machines (also called single-serve brewers) don't make a full pot of coffee each time, they brew much faster and just do one cup at a time. So you just brew up your next cup fresh rather than go back to the stale pot sitting on the warming plate.
The Flavia Fusion is a simple to use single serve coffee maker though you will need to have a supply of Flavia packets (Flavia Drinks) to use it. In order for the machine to work, you have to use pre-packed units of coffee or tea made by Flavia. You can get many roasts of coffee, several kinds of tea, hot chocolate and specialty drinks like the Milky Way Swirl. Milk packets let you make a cappuccino and latte too.
Basic operation of the Flavia Fusion is a simple as it gets. Open up the machine, insert your packet and let it brew. You don't even have to open the packet. When the brewing is finished, the machine will even dry the used packet with hot air so it's not dripping when you take it out.
The controls consist of a dial where you can choose your brewing options, between chocolate drinks, standard tea and coffee brewing and then also frothy milk drinks (like a latte). The machine controls all the other details.
The water tank on these machine holds just under a half gallon of water so you will be able to make several cups before having to do any refills. You don't brew into a standard carafe or pot, and the adjustable head on the machine allows you to use just about any size coffee cup you could have. Even tall travel mugs can be used.
The Flavia Fusion is typically black and grey, but some outlets do sell a red and pale blue unit as well. The measurements for the Fusion are 14.2" high x 10.8" wide x 15.8" deep which makes it larger than the similar Flavia Fusion Deluxe but still slim enough for most kitchen counters.
Usually when you purchase a Flavia Fusion, you also get a variety of pack of coffee packets so you can try out a few different tastes before you go shopping for more pods.
This model is probably a little too small or basic for an office setting but you will be happy with it in a typical household.
