The Senseo single serve coffee machine is a high quality coffee brewing system that is sure to make many delicious cups of coffee for you for many years to come. However, like with any other appliance, there can sometimes be minor problems. Here are a few of the most common issues users experience.
- My cup of coffee is too small.
The Senseo has three levels of cup size. Adjust the button on the top of the coffee maker to make a larger cup. - My cup of coffee doesn't have the crema layer on top.
Be certain that the pod is put in the pod holder correctly. If the pod is upside down, the foam will not form. If you have ensured that the pod is inserted properly, and you still have the problem, then you may have a problem with the pod holder. There is an o-ring on the bottom. If it loses its seal, the pod holder will leak, causing the crema layer to be compromised. You may need to replace the pod holder. - I am unable to make two cups of coffee at once.
You must use the double pod holder in order to make two cups of coffee simultaneously. You can purchase the double pod holder wherever you buy Senseo accessories. - My Senseo says it needs to be descaled.
Hard water use will cause scaling to build up on the inside of the Senseo, causing the unit to need to be descaled about every three months. Use a descaling agent purchased from Senseo, or make your own descaling solution using citric acid. Run the descaling solution through the coffee maker and then follow with two full containers of water. Keep an old pod in the pod holder to catch the scale as it passes through. If you ignore the warning, it will eventually disappear, even if you have not descaled the unit. This does not mean the problem has gone away. - My Senseo powers on but will not brew coffee.
If you ignored your descaling warning, this could be the problem. Try descaling it. If it does not work after descaling, the unit may need repair. - The temperature light keeps blinking and the water will not heat.
Check to ensure that the water reservoir contains water and that the reservoir is properly inserted into the machine. If the problem continues after ensuring that these two issues are correct, the unit may need repair.
These are the most common issues reported by Senseo users. As you can see, many of them are easily solved by ensuring that you are operating the machine properly and keeping it descaled.
Senseo offers a two-year warranty on their machines. If you have a problem with the Senseo Pods Coffee Maker that you cannot solve on your own, do not try to repair the machine yourself. Attempting to repair the machine on your own will void the warranty. Instead, contact Senseo for instructions on returning the machine for repair by the manufacturer. You can find the instructions for doing this with your machine or on Senseo's website.
