The Senseo Coffee Maker, made by Philips, is one of the most widely recognized single serve coffee brewers in the world. The Senseo is affordable and brews delicious coffee.
Many people may not be aware, however, that the Senseo machine is also a great tea brewer. Senseo offers a quick, easy way to brew the perfect cup of tea – no steeping required.
While Senseo does not make tea pods for its machines, they do make a pod holder for brewing tea. This pod holder is not required to brew tea, but it does help ensure that your tea doesn't taste like coffee. Senseo has partnered with Pickwick on tea pods that are available in flavors like Earl Grey, Mint and Fruity Forest.
There are several other companies that make tea pads that will fit the Senseo. Following is an overview of the varieties available.
- Organa- Organa makes certified organic tea pods in a variety of flavors like chamomile, chai, berry, mint green, Earl Grey and English Breakfast. Organa tea pods are all natural and 100% pure.
- Solera – Solera makes 12 varieties of tea pods that work in the Senseo machine. Choose from flavors like Green Passion, Earl Grey, Chai, Chamomile and White Lavender.
- Melitta – Melitta also makes a pod coffee brewing system, and they offer two varieties of tea pods: Shades of Jade green tea and Zen in Black. These tea pods fit perfectly into both the Melitta and Senseo brewers.
Tea pods are a relatively new product addition for pod coffee brewing machines like the Senseo. They have been created as somewhat of an afterthought for these machines that were originally thought of as simply for brewing coffee.
However, tea drinking has gained popularity in the Western world, in part because we have recently discovered a wide variety of health benefits associated with drinking tea. And, with so many delicious decaffeinated varieties of tea available; it's a drink you can enjoy all day long without worry about getting jittery.
As more people begin to drink tea on a regular basis, it's sure to mean that there will be many more tea pods available to fit Senseo machines.
In the meantime, enjoy these tea pods that are available today to make hot tea and iced tea, as well.
To make iced tea from a pod designed for hot tea, use Senseo's larger pod holder that is designed to hold two pods. Use two tea pods, but brew only one cup of tea. This will make very strong tea that you can then dilute with cold water or ice to make a delicious glass of iced tea. If you prefer your iced tea sweetened, add the sweetener while the tea is still hot. So, as you can see, Senseo isn't just for brewing coffee anymore. With the addition of the t-pod accessory and some of the delicious varieties of tea pods available, you're going to love making your afternoon cup of tea with the Senseo just as much as you enjoy making that perfect cup of morning coffee.
