Congratulations on getting your new Senseo Coffee Maker. The Senseo machine is a great accessory to have in your kitchen or office. Like anything else, your Senseo coffeemaker will have to be maintained in order to keep in working properly and to keep enjoying the freshest coffee possible.
Keep it Clean
Clean your machine daily after use. There is not much too clean up which will make it a snap. Do not leave old pods in the pod holder. Leaving an old wet pod there will make it a breeding haven for bacteria. Make sure to wipe down all parts of your machine with a warm sponge or towel.
You will also want to flush your machine once per month. Fill the reservoir with clean water and add two capfuls of white vinegar. This will clean all of the lines that the coffee runs through. Once the cycle is completed, fill the reservoir again with plain water and run it through one more time. Make sure that you have a bowl large enough to hold the entire reservoir of water to avoid making a mess.
Take Care of the Water
If you live in an area that doesn’t add a water softener to your water supply then lime and hard water build up are no strangers to you. Consider prolonging the life of your Senseo machine by using bottled or filtered water in your machine. You don’t want to end up with that build up on the inside of your machine and its spouts.
Keep Your Pods Fresh
Keep your pods fresh by keeping them inside of the Senseo Pod holders or any other sealed container. You do not want to keep them exposed to the open air. Sandwich bags and resealable containers also work great to keep your pods fresh. Don’t forget to keep the pod flavors separate when storing.
