When you’re a college student, space and inexpensive quality is everything. You need reliable appliances that fit your busy lifestyle. Luckily, there’s a special set of single serve coffee brewers that can meet any budget and size constraint. Plus, these systems are sure to help you through the late nights and “all-nighters” so common in college and young adulthood. The three best small single serve coffee brewers on the market are the Keurig MINI Plus System, the Flavia Fusion and the Tassimo T-20 Brewing system.
The Keurig MINI Plus System is a single use brewing system that brews 4-ounce, 6-ounce and 10-ounce coffee cups. For a modest $100, the Keurig MINI Plus System measures only 10 inches by 6 inches, easily fitting into almost any setting. The Keurig MINI Plus System fits any K-Cup out there and coffee brewers need to measure the water they put into the reservoir since the brewer will brew whatever amount is there. Every fresh cup of coffee requires refilling of the water reservoir.
The Flavia Fusion is a multiple use brewing system that brews only 5-ounce coffee cups. The water reservoir at 52-ounces is considerably larger than the Keurig MINI or Tassimo T-20 Brewing System. The Flavia single serve coffee brewing system uses packages known as “Fresh Packs” to brew coffee. The Flavia system is also the least expensive of the three major brands, but lacks popular coffee brands such as Starbucks or Gloria Jean Coffee. The Flavia Fusion is small at 14 inches by 9 inches, but it’s taller than the other small single serve brewing systems.
Finally, the Tassimo T-20 Brewing System may be the most expensive single serve coffee brewer at $130, but it provides the most specialized coffee experience. The Tassimo system reads the barcode on the T-discs (the small filter packets that brew the coffee) and automatically adjusts brewing time and speed to make the perfect cup of coffee. The Tassimo T-20 also has a fairly large water reservoir at 48-ounces, providing a multiple use brewing experience. The Tassimo T-20 is also a little bigger at 11 inches by 7 inches and it brews 6-ounce coffee cups.
If you’re ready to jump into the single serve coffee brewing market and you’re very limited on space, make sure you carefully weigh the size of each system. The Flavia system is perfect for spaces where height isn’t a worry. The Keurig is most compact of all, but requires new water with each brewing cycle. The Tassimo system is the most expensive but is best for strong coffee since it automatically adjusts to the coffee type you want. All three of these systems are very reliable and well tested on the market. The only question is which one fits your individual needs.
