This is a simple and straight forward filter. Remember coffee is 98% water. So... what you put in is what comes out. If you put bad mineral full tap water in, you will get that tainted poor tasting coffee. All coffee shops use filters, either like these (in much larger form) or reverse osmosis. The initial expense is the starter kit that has the large basket with handle for the filters. They recommend replacement every two months. This kit will get you four months. At that point pick up the 6 pack of refills and you are set for the next year. Make sure to replace these as carbon filters that are not replaced can harbor some pretty nasty bacteria. I have replace quite a few professional ones that people thought they did not need to change and I can not even describe how nasty they were. Please make sure to replace yours!

i purchased this water filter only after i had a few glitches with my keurig. it wasn't pouring water out of the spout like it should. it was getting plugged up from calcium. so i found this product and happened to have a coupon for it which made the price even better! the filter has a calendar on it so you can be aware of when it is time to change it. just snap it in the water basin and leave for two months. my coffee tastes alot better as i get more coffee flavor and less water taste. if you want your keurig to last longer i would say this is a must have and you can't beat the price!
