The Nescafe Dolce Gusto Piccolo Coffee Machine is the ideal sized single-serve coffee maker for tight spaces. Its small size does not change the punch it packs when making a cup of coffee. This little wonder uses the same convenient capsules to make hot or cold drinks and incorporates 15-bar pressure to insure that each and every cup is frothy and rich.
Water heats in less than one minute and can be set to the perfect temperature for a customized cup of coffee.
I bought this as my wife and I wanted to try it out. We have a Braun Tassimo, a Keurig B60. a Krups XP4030 Espresso Machine, a Bodum French Press, and a Hamilton Beach Stay/Go Brewer that will never die.
So with all that being said we have a pretty good assortment of items to compare/contrast to. In its construction, it is top notch. It is of high quality material and has a very small footprint on your counter (much unlike my Krups XP4030).
I starts up fast and is ready to go soon after it's turn on. It has enough water to make 3-4 beverages. It was easy to take the water tank off and fill it from my filtered Refridge water. This model DOES NOT have the ability to accept a in tank water filter. Either use a refridge based system or just pick up a cheap water filter container for less than $20.00 at the store. This will save you time down the road with the descaling. It will prolong it and remember that great coffee must have great water or you are just wasting your money and hurting your brewer.
The action on the lever is very smooth and it is simple to use. You just flip it up and remove the pod holder. You place the pod back in and close it. There is a magnet in the holder and the machine that help guide it into place. Once you close it you will hear it pierce the pod and you are ready to go.
Brewing is as simple as move the lever to the right for a hot drink and to the left for a cold drink. It is MANUAL--- the boxes tell you suggested amounts for their flavor profile, so start with those and adjust to your taste. You can really mess up your drink if you do not. It is trial and error sometimes.
Clean up is simple, pop the capsule out and rinse the pod holder. That is it plain and simple.
My fault does not lie with the machine, but with Nescafe's products. You have to love Nescafe as it is your only choice of product. I prefer the Tassimo overall to their product, but it is not the brewers fault :)
Get this is you love true European Style tastes and can live with products only from Nescafe (using powdered milk and sometimes instant coffee.)
