While all of the single serve machines on offer from Nespresso make coffee at home easy and fuss-free, the Lattissima goes one step further. It is the first of the Nespresso machines to offer one-touch lattes and cappuccinos.
Looks and Style
The Lattissima is all class, its elegant stylings will see it a feature in kitchens. While many of the Nespresso machines are small and compact, the Lattissima is closer in its looks to a traditional coffee machine, while slightly more compact in size. Weighing in at 11 pounds, it is one of the heavier machines, but with all of the excellent features it offers, this is really no surprise.
Features
While with earlier models the milk frother was always an optional extra which had to be operated manually, the Lattissima will pull a shot of espresso, froth the milk and pour to make your cup complete. With just one touch of a button you have a complete latte or cappuccino ready to drink. All you need do is sprinkle a little chocolate on top and enjoy.
The milk container is self cleaning, which makes like a lot easier. It detaches and can be kept in the fridge, so you don’t need to refill it every time you make a coffee, then worry about emptying it afterwords.
There is an adjustable stand which accommodates difference cup sizes perfectly. The cup cup warming platform will be enjoyed by those that enjoy a piping hot espresso.
The Lattissima features a 19 bar espresso pump, as well as twin heaters. One is for espresso while the other is for milk, they can be used at the same time. The water reservoir is easily removed, and no problem to keep clean. The waste capsule container holds up to 15 used capsules, and is no problem to remove and empty. The Lattissima is manufactured by De Longhi.
The Coffee
You wont get a more perfect cup than the Lattissima provides, nor is there a simpler way to make your lattes and cappuccinos. There is an on/off switch, and four brewing buttons to choose from; espresso, lungo, latte, and cappuccino. There is also a switch to put the machine in self-clean mode.
You can make a cappuccino in under one minute, and a latte in around 80 seconds. Not bad when you compare it to the time it takes to make a coffee with a traditional machine, or how long you might wait in line for a take-away latte.
Cleaning up afterwards is a breeze. You just detach the milk container and place it back in the fridge, then hit the clean button, the machine does everything itself.
Care and Maintenance
When you start your Lattissima up in the morning, it is recommended you refill the water reservoir. You will then need to flush out both the milk frother and the espresso pourer. It takes about a minute to flush some hot water through both parts of the machine. Descaling is recommended by Nespresso 2 - 3 times per year.
Price
The Lattissima is at the upper end of the Nespresso machine pricing. With this in mind, it makes perfect lattes and cappuccinos every time and is one of the easiest machines around to use. The Lattissima offers excellent value for money. If you stick to espresso, then opt for something simpler, but you love a latte you can’t look past the Lattissima. If you want the Nespresso machine with all the extras then the Lattissima is perfect for you.
