Nespresso Le Cube is all about simplicity. This De Longhi made single serve espresso machine will appeal to lovers of all things modern. Nespresso started the design process for the Le Cube with minimalism in mind.
Looks and Style
The Le Cube is available in three colous; red, aluminum, and bronze. Earlier models came in white, as well as other colors. Its square shape is attractive to the eye, and also makes it easy to fit into a small space in your kitchen.
Features
The Le Cube works with a 19 bar high pressure pump. There is a good-sized water reservoir at the back of the machine, which is easy to change and refill.
A cup warming plate is one of Le Cube’s handy features. Your coffee stays warmer for longer, and some experts believe that coffee tastes better when pulled into a pre heated cup. If you like your morning espresso super hot, then you are going to love the Le Cube. There is also an adjustable plate which flips up to accommodate larger cup sizes. There is storage for six espresso cups on the side of the machine, a feature that is as useful as it is aesthetically pleasing.
One of the other features that the Le Cube boasts is a backlight which alerts you to the capsule container being full, this saves you the hassle of checking the container all the time, and means you will never get a capsule stuck inside the machine.
The Coffee
With fully automated pouring, the Le Cube will pour you an espresso or lungo at the touch of the button. There is no facility for milk warming, but this machine is often sold with the Nespresso free-standing Milk Frother in a package.
If you’re feeling like an extra-long lungo or espresso, you can hold the buttons down and the machine will keep pouring. This is a good feature if you are fussy about how your coffee is made.
Capsules are inserted into the machine using a lever system which is simple to use. Used capsules fall into a waste bin beneath, which lights up when it needs to be emptied.
Care and Maintenance
Each morning you should start your day by refilling the water reservoir. You may also like to flush out the machine before you pour your first cup. Just pour a lungo shot without a capsule inserted. You can clean any spillages on the machine with warm water, just be sure not to get any of the electrical components wet. The machine needs to be descaled 2-3 times a year, this is a simple process that only takes 15 minutes.
Price
The Le Cube Sits in the middle of the range as far as pricing goes. It costs more than models like the CitiZ, but offers additional features like the cup warming plate and backlight. The fact that it does not include a milk frother for the price lets the Le Cube down a little. The differences between machines like the CitiZ and the Le Cube are small, ultimately your choice is likely to come down to looks.
